Kat & Geoff Engagement Sneak Peak

Kat & Geoff will be getting married next fall but we took advantage of the summer to take their engagement photos.

When I was in university I decided to do a 5th year which meant most of my friends had graduated and left the city. My sister had just started university and joined a Chinese Christian club. I was a bit hesitant since I'm not Chinese, but went to support her anyway. Geoff was one of my first friends I made in that club and one of the few I still keep in touch with. As you grow older, go through different seasons of your life, live abroad and embark on new career paths, it's so difficult to keep in touch and maintain a friendship. I'm super thankful for the friendship I have with Geoff and the new friendship developing with Kat.

On top of being really cute together, they know how to have fun with each other. This made the session all the more fun.

Here are a few I really liked from today's session. More to come later!

First Maternity Shoot

I've always been a bit nervous about shooting maternity photos. I know they're really important and special but since I've never been pregnant I feel a bit disconnected.

But I knew I had to do some photos for my life-long friend Ara. My first engagement shoot was with her and Sam. Then she asked me to shoot her wedding and now I just did my first maternity shoot with her. After tonight I discovered how fun it is to take photos of someone during this life stage.

Friendships can be hard to retain over the years, but Ara is someone that is very dear to me despite all the time and distance that has been between us. I first met Ara when we were both 12 years old in grade 7. We instantly became friends because we had the same birthday. Even though she's a 20 minute drive away, we strangely only meet up once a year. But it's ok because we're secure in our friendship and that is something to be valued. It's pretty amazing seeing where she is now - married, independent business owner, homeowner, and soon-to-be mom!

Here is a sneak peak to some of the photos from tonight

Sumin & John {Engagement 04.13.2015}

This was one ridiculous long photoshoot but also a really fun one. I've known John for more than 10 years which made this more like a hangout session.

I was really excited to explore and see D.C while also taking pictures of two dear friends of mine. They were so easy-going and had a lot of fun with the whole session.

D.C is such a picturesque city. Unfortunately it is also full of tourists. Especially this week, it was the cherry blossom festival season so there were people everywhere. We were still able to find some nice places and avoid all the people.

Mari & Garth {03.06.2015}

I was asked by the talented Tanya to second shoot a wedding with her in Miami. Having never been to Miami I couldn't pass up this chance. Being able to work with someone who has so much experience but also who has a huge heart for people and photography was such an honour. We spent hours and hours exploring Miami but also talking about our hearts regarding photography and our lives in this life. I am so grateful for friendships that transcend time and distance. The last time I saw this girl was in the summer of 2012 and we were able to immediately reconnect. This helped with shooting people I had never met in an environment I had never been to.

Mari and  Garth were so laid back during the whole day. They were easy going and were open to all kind of ideas. I am thankful they had me be part of their day. Here are a few of the pictures from the beautiful day.
